Description this is one of the many North Carolina class preliminary designs drawn drawn up throughout the course of the mid to late 1930s, this particular one scheme C along with scheme B, have always been my favourite out of the bunch.

yes that is one of the reasons why the boilers were placed very far back in the ship, and also most likely to help with weight compensation to try and get the ship passed the Washington naval treaty battleship tonnage limit

that's understandable, a lot of the North Carolina preliminary designs are pretty bizarre
