Did you mean for the gloss to smear on the paper?
Either way, it makes a wonderful statement. This is, in a way, a bit morbid, but also happy and alive. The brightness of the lips is a wonderful contrast against both title and concept of poetry being consumed in such a way as by mouth.
Of course, though, everyone has their own interpretation...

It's an interesting metaphor. Be careful which poetry you eat though, some of it will kill you.
