Illustration featuring another one of my characters, Summer.Yes, it was sort of inspired by That Song.
Watercolor and colored pencil, 14 x 16", minor digital fixes to the fireflies- the effect did not scan well.
Prints are available- $10 each for 8x10"

I really love the dreamy quality of the piece. For me fireflies have always been a symbol of those innocent childhood summers catching these illusive ephemeral spirits. Even now for me at least they have a mystical beauty about them. Their lights calling us away from the daily grind to set and watch the insects dance. Their lights dancing as if the stars in the sky had descended from the sky to play on Earth.

Standard watercolor paper- 140 lb coldpress. Probably wouldn't have had so much trouble with the colored pencil if it had been something smoother, though.

I can't say I'm a fan of that song, but I do like this picture a lot. That looks like a kid's dream room and has everything to make a happy childhood.

Well, I don't do prints through dA because they don't really make it worth your while. But if you'd like a print I do sell them, they're $10 each plus shipping for an 8x10" size.

makes me want to catch a bunch of fireflies and set them loose in the house 8D ...I wish there were fireflies in the city....and stars....
