Description American toad [Bufo americanus]

Found this little guy back in August while on a hike with my friend, ~Brett-Koopman .

We took him home, where My girlfriend aptly named him "Toader". His temporary visit turned out to be quite permanent after we made him a home in Snaker's large terrarium [The toad's too large for the snake to eat, and they keep to themselves and don't stress eachother out]. He seems very content eating crickets and mealworms all day, and has grown to about 150%-175% his original size in the last 5 months. Some day I will set him free in his native habitat, but for now he's got a warm place to stay for the winter

As you know, I adore the golden hues that encircle the pupil which itself seem to spill out into the iris. Quite vivid.

It is remarkable how closely it resembles the luster of gold leaf.
