In the afternoon, we were forecasted to get some pretty severe thunderstorms. It was hot and humid all day. However, all we got was a couple big rainstorms; most of the severe stuff seemed to be staying south. But the clouds looked amazing that evening and put on quite a show, even if the storms didn't.Related content

That is a beautiful cloud formation. Based on the shapes of the clouds, there must have been a lot of very severe storms nearby, and a good amount of turbulence in the atmosphere. Ironically, the only time I ever saw cloud formations like this was when I lived in NYC. I did experience stronger thunderstorms in Massachusetts, but I never saw a cloud formation like that there.
