Okay, I broke down and got some more dolls. I knew I wanted the original favorites Frankie and Draculaura. I know Draculaura was first wave, but I wish they had released her in the new 'short girls' mold like Maddy. Lala is supposed to be the shortest of the main six.

Against my better judgement, I got the 'School Spirit' two pack of Raven and Apple. I totally ship these two, by the way. I love the outfit Raven comes in and I was totally in love with her purple baseball cap. Turns out it doesn't fit on her head. >< I wanted Apple, too so I could do shippy comics with these two but her outfit makes my eyes bleed. I don't know who decided yellow and red and purple all went together, but they were obviously color blind. So I'm going to have to restyle her. I do like her jacket but most of the outfits I have with purple and gold are Clawdeen's clothes and . . . . there's no other way to say it; Apple is way too white to rock Clawdeen's fierce style.

I had decided I wanted my Maddy to be French, so I wanted her to be in quiet contemplation over what happened in her homeland. Then everyone swooped in to offer their help and this happened.

I really don't see what the big difference is between Monster High and Ever After High (aside from doll quality). They both have shapeshifters, fairies, witches and giants . . . . even the same goddess attended both schools. But MH has more depth. The characters are allowed to grow and change. They switch up the lineup so other characters get time in the spotlight. You can be watching a movie about fashionable cartoon ghosts and suddenly go: Wait a minute! This is about Islamophobia and propaganda! This is about hatemongering! This is about Jim Crow laws!

EA High has only had two movies and they were pretty good, but after they were over, the show immediately wiped out any and all character development and went right back to the status quo. In Way Too Wonderland, Raven and Apple literally put their lives in each other's hands. Back to the show, now they aren't speaking because they can't decide on a theme for the year book. Uhhhh . . . . what? Apple trusts Raven not to murder her after absorbing the evil from her mother's book of spells and now she won't let her put candid photos in the yearbook? Are you serious?

I do love fairy tales and I love the concept and I do like the shows but I wish they would put the same writing team on EA from MH. Also, I wish they're match the doll quality. Did you know every MH doll I've had can stand on her own if you balance her carefully and I'n not had one EA doll that could do the same?

Oh, and in case anybody's wondering, My Maddy is pansexual and Cleo is a straight up lesbian. I figure at Monster High, bucking tradition has become tradition so they'd be pretty happy for thier friends. Ever After High is built around fulfilling the expectations of others, so hey really don't know how to deal with this.
