Description Legend of Zelda -Twilight Princess
Princess Zelda Cosplay

Everything is handmade by yours truly (except the gloves, which I painted). All the designs are handpainted, the apron is hand dyed and the design is sewn on. Dress is about 10 yards of bridal satin and faux suede. The pattern was modified from a cheerleader costume. Armor is made of Volara and craft foam. Sculpy was also used for some decorations.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

This took about 3 years (on and off) to finally complete and I still have some things I want to do to it.
Debut at Tokyo in Tulsa 2011
Awards: 2nd Place in the Cosplay Contest at Tokyo in Tulsa

Thanks!!!
The sword is made out of insulation foam (not the pink stuff, it's about 3/4 of an inch thick and green. It's also a bit flexible) with a yardstick in it for support. The handle is a thick dowel rod. The whole thing has a couple layers of paper mΓ’chΓ© over it and its coated with polyurethane. You can get polyurethane at Home Depot or whatever in the paint section. Then it's just painted.
The whole thing is really lightweight, only downside is that it's not all that sturdy... By the end of the day the tip was kind of crunched.
There's a piece of concept art for Zelda that has the sword in it, that's all I used.

Very nice Cosplay, indeed, I especially love how you did the armor! - Could you please explain to me what Volara is and how you work with it?
Thx a lot!

Volara is a closed cell foam, I think it's real use is poker and blackjack tables. The stuff I used was a half inch (I think) thick and I was able to cut it easily with an exacto blade, it's very pliable and easy to work with although it does have a rough texture.
I was able to heat it up over a hot burner on my stove and form it to the shapes I needed. Once it cooled down it stayed in shape! I The designs on the armor are just cut out of craft foam and glued on with hot glue. I sealed everything with mode podge.

Did that help t all?
