Description First image of the SSV Normandy SR-3 Concept I'm making. I decided it should have a third pair of engines, which, much like the smaller engines on the SR-1 will move out and back in depending on the situation. This will also be bigger than the SR-2, and may be better equipped for combat situations later on.

That's a troublesome placement for the forward set of engines-- the way they appear to line up, if they were actually providing thrust the exhaust would blast the leading edge of the 'wings' like a blow-torch and melt them off  o_O

Yeah, this was a bit of an old and poor design. Might remake it in the summer after uni, but I've lost these original files, anyway... Also, not sure how the engines in Mass effect work, but they don't seem to have a massive heat trail, if any.

Information from the official codex was used on the mass effect wiki;  at masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Code… under "Starships: Thrusters" it describes...

"In combat, military vessels require accelerations beyond the capability of fusion torches. Warship thrusters inject antiprotons into a reaction chamber filled with hydrogen. The matter-antimatter annihilation provides unmatched motive power. The drawback is fuel production; antiprotons must be manufactured one particle at a time. Most antimatter production is done at massive solar arrays orbiting energetic stars, making them high-value targets in wartime.

The exhaust of fusion and antiproton drives is measured in millions of degrees Celsius. Any vessel caught behind them will melt like wax in a blowtorch."

Sooo, that's what I was recalling when I commented.  Just wouldn't want to see the secondary engines cut the primary ones off with the wings

What if I told you the ship split in two? Would that simmer the fires within your heart? The front engines wouldn't engage until the front ship is completely separated then!

...  unless enemy data-warfare systems could hack her OS remotely and fire them in the docked configuration.  o_O

I'm not trying to bust your balls, honest    It's just the sci-fi tech nerd in me-- knowing what I know from the content's creators about the imaginary technology, it makes me worry for the imaginary crew if there should be an imaginary catastrophe.

I was just BS-ing an excuse for the poor configuration, TBH, I will probably Blueprint it properly over the summer. I like to make things nowadays so they're more functional, that's why my later models are made by basing the entire thing around one component. This one was pretty poor and I just put it on DA to fill my gallery a little more!

Just as a side note, I have added broadside cannons which look similar to the ones on the Quarian ships during the third game. It felt necessary

Yeah, I couldn't get the SR-2 exactly as I wanted, so I gave up and requisitioned the engines for the SR-3. In other news, I have also completely redesigned the hull.
