Our leading story this hour comes from New York. Residents are being advised not to open any Christmas gifts unless they are sure of when they came from, after a number of young women were imprisoned by the booby-trapped packages. At first, the gifts appear normal and mostly contain ordinary seeming objects related to bubbles or inflation. However, when used, the items take a sinister, seemingly magical turn, with the owner becoming stuck in a predicament from which they cannot escape.
Authorities have not provided information on who they think may have sent the gifts, nor how many may have been delivered, but the person or persons carying out these devious actions appear to have a financial motive. Police Commissioner Tom Davis is currently giving a press conference with the latest information:
