"Everyone, I must tell you something to get it off from my chest. Remember that guy in black? Well, That's Bakari, my older brother. I know, It's insane, but sadly It's the truth, just let me explain...
I was just a child, we lived in a peaceful village in South Africa, our baba was a shaman named Danso and our mother was Amalia, everyone was really good and open-minded peaple.
Sometimes we played pranks on each other, but we loved each other, we were a big family... until that day.
A group of soldiers came to our village with the intention of kidnapping me and the other children to force us to become soldiers and enslave the women, but as village chief our baba got in the way.
He begged the soldiers to take him in our place, but they weren't convinced enough, so they took all the other men, Bakari wanted to come with them but our mother stopped him, I was scared, but before disappearing, baba told us one last thing: "If I never come back, go to America, I will find a way to see you again, the spirits will guide us."
The good happy days were over, our mother was always on her knees, Bakari was cold and silent, the other children and I didn't play anymore and no one talks to each other anymore.
As if that weren't enough, Bakari disappeared into thin air, he left a note that said "Don't worry, I will find a way to fix everything, just wait."
It came out that Bakari had gone to face the soldiers alone, we waited for so long, days, weeks, months, in the end Bakari came back... but changed.
He was alone, bloodstained, and his eyes were completely white, they were dead empty eyes, he made a deal with an evil spirit, he would help Bakari bring baba and the others back home in exchange for his soul.
But when Bakari arrived at the soldiers' hideout it was too late, baba and the others were dead, so Bakari killed the soldiers with necromancy.
My mother was desperate, I was furious, how could my brother disappear and go into mortal danger withoutsaying a word? Plus sealing his soul to a demon?
I banned him, immediately, I told him that if he came back or if I saw him again I would kill him with my own hands, my mother didn't say anything.
A month later we decided to leave for America, hoping to start from scratch and hope that the spirits would still listen to us, it was a very long, turbulent, risky and tiring journey.
During the journey we met other desperate people like us looking for a new home and a new life, men, women, the elders, and especially children, all of them running away from problems.
And believe me or not, a leopard also joined us, he followed us for all days but didn't attack us, on the contrary, he protected us from marauders and other predators, and found us food and drink.
In the end we managed to reach the port, all of us were safe and sound, it was then that we understood that the spirits listened to us, they protected us through the leopard.
But now we had to manage on our own, because we were many people and the boat wasn't big enough to carry us all, some, even my mother decided to stay and wait for another boat.
My mother gave me her foulard, she told me it was blessed by spirits and it would bring me good luck, which is why I still wear it today, so that one day I can see her again.
We sailed day and night, without food or water or sleep, we were hungry and tired and we were also afraid of falling off the boat and drowning.
Then came the worst part, it was a very cold night, there were maybe three days until the end of the journey, there were very loud noises, the water was very agitated and there was a very aggressive rain, many of us fell and never came up again.
When I fell into the water I thought it was over for me, only when they picked me up did I realize that the scarf worked and that the spirits had been watching over me.
But when we arrived, it didn't seem that they wanted to welcome us, because as soon as I crossed that metal fence it was too late.
We were in pitiful condition, they separated us from the adults, we were too cramped, we couldn't get water or blankets, they didn't allow us to wash, a woman died because of it, is this America I heard of?
Sick of it, someone started fighting back and attacking a guard, a riot had broken out, some joined it, most decided to take the opportunity to escape, I chose the second one, don't ask me how I did it.
I had never seen anything like it in Africa, the houses and buildings were huge, and I've never heard so much noise, never seen so many cars and so many white people.
They had clothes, shoes, animals, medicines, light and water, but I couldn't afford any of this in a world I didn't know at all, so I was forced to do things of which I should be ashamed of.
It was there that I met Lienhua, she was supposed to be my first victim, I don't know how but she managed to catch me without even turning around, even thought I approached with caution.
But she didn't reported me, on the contrary, she invited me to have lunch together, she asked where do I live, instead I told her everything, about the soldiers, about Bakari, about the journey and about the riot.
At first she didn't believe it because of the leopard and the demon, but seeing my condition she decided to take me to her home, but not before showing me what she could do against three brutes.
This was also new to me, a young woman defeating three men with her bare hands, it was incredible! She calls it Kung Fu, a traditional chinese fight.
I asked her if one day she will teach me Kung Fu, she said yes, as long as I don't use it to hurt or steal, I was excited I couldn't wait.
Just graduated in psychology, the social workers finally gave Lienhua permission to adopt me, so she could finally teach me not only Kung Fu, but also Chinese and American culture.
In return, I taught Lienhua about African culture and to pray the spirits, she was a big sister to me, a sister i never had, I was finally happy again.
I'm sorry I hid all this from you, now I know that Bakari will never forgive me for what I did to him, and neither will my mother.
I know now that one way or another I have to stop my brother before it's too late."
