Description Occult Heroes: Seiðr (Norse witchcraft). This is Heiðr.

Seiðr is mainly used for the casting of illusions, such as invisibility (she has a medieval Icelandic sigil of invisibility on her forehead called the Hulinhjalmur). It's said that a Seið-witch's illusions could be stopped by blocking her vision, such as by putting a bag over her head. It was also used for spirit journeys, and possession of and transformation into animals to accomplish that. There are also more substantial gifts that come with it, such as control over weather, animal movements, enchanting of objects, and so on. Seiðr could also be used for prophesy, though consultation and possession by gods and spirits, but shouldn't be confused with true prophesy, which the Norse people called Spá. In mythology, Seiðr was said to be brought to Asgard by the Vanir gods, specifically Freya. it was taught to Odin, who used it frequently. This was considered unusual, as Seiðr was chiefly a woman's craft - to the point where it was considered unmanly to use it.

It is said that Seiðr originated from Asian shamanism.
