Description
Okay, so conceit of The Apex Society is that each era and location reflects the real-world pop-culture of the corresponding place, but also that the previous eras of pop-culture bleed into one another. So, the pulp era will directly lead into the superhero era, with crossovers, etc.

I've been struggling with coming up with non-Western concepts because I'm not as familiar with the cultures to really comment on them. That said, there are a lot of important things, like the Pokemon/Digimon craze that I'd like to comment on, and I've been trying to come up with something that's an obvious reference but still different enough to be its own thing. Then it hit me an hour ago, Pocket Kaiju (or Kawaiiju as I decided to call them).

The idea being that the Kaiju of Japan suddenly started reproducing with smaller, cuter versions of themselves that formed bonds with Japanese school children and such. They'd all be inspired by real movie Kaiju and giant monsters. There'd be good trainers and evil trainers, who would go up against each other. You get the idea.

It's all rough at this point, but I'm liking the concept so far.
