The black ghost squid is a large pelagic oegopsid squid that is found deep in the midnight zone. It is known for its distinctive black coloration and elaborative fin lobes with white markings at the top, almost looking like some character when seen from the distance. Due to it being poorly studied, the purpose of these fins has sparked a an ongoing debate amongst scientists and biologists alike.Cartoon Cat and the picture above belongs to the courtesy of Trevor Henderson/Slimyswampghost.
