"Thrice bitten. That is the cardinal rule from the mortal standpoint. For no man can be bitten thrice by a single vampire without suffering from the effects. Has it not been so documented in a similar manner elsewhere? We read of the nightly visitations of vampires past and the slow decline in health caused by such. The count known as Dracula fed from Lucy Westerna, changing her from a mortal woman upon her death. Ah, but there is more to the tale. Something blotted from the books and stricken from the seen records. For lest we forget that Mina's unholy change took place at a much quicker rate. Why? She was subjected to the taste of Dracula's own dead blood upon her lips. As such, it did not matter if she had been fed from once, thrice, or perhaps more.
But I wonder... The rule has not been written when it comes to a maiden not quite mortal. She is human yes, but yet there is something more that runs through her veins. A magic. A power. The remnants of an ancient spirit far older than my own clan of vampires. Should she find herself subject to my thirst, I cannot be certain of the result. Would one single bite prove sufficient or would her own inner powers act as a defense from my curse? If it be the latter, two or three bites would likely prove the same. And yet what of the secondary portion that triggers that damnable transformation? Were my dead blood to enter into her body...I shudder to think of what may come of it. Still, the curiosity remains. The search for answers and the testing of what seems to be a near limitless supply of spiritual power. The same as the first, the beginnings of all Rosencroix.
Nicolae may have had his own reasons for drinking from the Rose, but mine are of a far nobler purpose. I seek not to condemn her to share my fate. No. I am not selfish. And yet, neither am I innocent. Her eyes compel me. The soft flesh tempts my will. I can smell her scent, the warm floral aroma of her blood as it pulses in a steady rhythmic procession.
