Sircut Terra is an alien world that experienced a mass extinction that killed 97%. One of the most successful animals after the extinction was a small blind fish-like organism that dug in the sand. It then came on to land and had a massive explosion of diversity. The only place that has any animals that are descended from a different ancestor than most life is the life of the island Perdira which wasn't as affected as the rest of the planet. The reason the animals of Perdira didn't diversified into land niches was because the life of the islands aren't good at swimming.
