A more turtle looking Ninja Turtle. My one regret is that I feel that Raph (who is my fav turtle) is rockin' more of a Mikey expression...Raph is more serious than this. Fo sho. If I do any more Turtles art (I'm sure I will) I'll fix this next time.I've been diggin' drawin beasts lately, using a bargain book from Borders called simply "Animals" as reference. I think it's a national geo. book. Since I'm doing some animal pieces I thought the TMNT makes great subjects.
I tried a similar inking tech. to the last piece I did but this time tried to work in some color n' stuff. It's a pretty different way of working than what I'm used to but I'm having fun with it, 07 was all about no lines and flat colors/shapes for me and 08 (so far) I'm all about the ink and blended tones. I guess that's how we grow, right?

ha, always wondered what a more turtle-y looking tmnt would turn out like. i have two turtles here at home, and i always think about that.

Part ninja turtle, part dinosaur. I love it! Though Raph was never in my top-two, he was always quite the personality. Whether the Seinfeldian New York Jew of the old cartoons, the brooklynite of the live movies, or the angry black dude of the newer cartoons and movie, he adds much needed spice to the preceedings.
And I'm digging the hell out of the inking you've been up to. Reminds me of the old psychadelic stylings of the 60's-70's concert posters and such. Almost Yellow Submariney, if you follow me.
