They're based off each of the seven sins, Saligia being the first letters of their names in Latin.
Avarita is the sin of avarice/greed. The virus situates itself between the skull and the brain, forming a covering layer over it. It starts to send its own electrical signals, taking partial or sometimes complete control of bodily functions and mental patterns.

That winding thing in the back is the cord of a bitsy endoscope. Yeah I'm lame.
