This was an entry for NintyFans' happiness contest (ended on Oct. 3, 2010). Kisses to everyone who voted I cannot thank you enough.

(and just as I was starting to blow kisses of gratitude the song "Wherever You Will Go" - The Calling starts playing. Strikes me that "I'll Go Wherever You Will Go" might also have made a decent title for this picture).

I was inspired to make something with a lot more characters in it. But as always when I decide to do something ambitious – because I am starting to accept that I do not have a life – life comes at me like a jealous ex. Bye bye picture with an actual thought behind and where I was finally going to succeed with digital coloring.
But I was set on entering this contest (I've missed too many already) so I did what I always do: I throw something together at the last minute telling myself that it is better than nothing. This time it ended up being a watercolor of Link and Zelda. Now, I admit I did spend a fair amount of hours on this but I would still call it a quick work. I got bored halfway through (points to lazy 30 second background) and what was mauled the most by my laziness were Link's hands. Hence why we got this lovely white blurry frame to hide the worst mistakes.

There are a lot of ways to interpret the relationship between Link and Zelda. Whether one likes to think of them as friends or something more – or less – one must at least admit that there is a special bond between them. No matter how many times Hyrule calls for a hero its princess will be there at his side. No matter if their tale is a tragic one or more of a sweet fairy tale. I like to imagine that they offer each other comfort. Through good times and through bad they can rely on the other to be there.

To me these two represent the greatest source of joy for one another. I am naively hoping that I could capture “happiness” even with this cheap outlook on the subject.
