And the best part is even though the movie and the book are different in many ways (though really imo the differences are only made to make the movie more dramatic) they're both beautiful haha. It's not like they totally botched it. I honestly never get sick of reading it tbh I keep flicking through the pages and re-reading all my favorite parts. :')

Yeah, Phyllis Nagy did an amazing job on the screenplay and adaptation. And it's so nice that despite the differences between book and film, she remained faithful to the original. She and Patricia Highsmith were friends, so she knew her pretty well and I think was successful in sticking with highsmith's vision.
I gotta go reread & rewatch it again and again!

I am literally so mad Carol didn't win at least that or cinematography at the Oscars tbh uuuuugh.
I love that tbh I love how the script for the movie was in the works so long so every detail is basically to perfection.
And I love how you really get to see more of Carol's side of things in the movie compared to the book! Some people
clearly had the wrong idea about Carol, because I've seen so many people call her cold, but they're just wrong tbh.

Oh definitely! I do get how people might have felt that book!Carol came off as cold, but they've gotta remember that that is told purely from Therese's perspective, and so a lot of the times when Carol seems distant or unfeeling, she's usually distracted by her troubles. The movie was a great way to illustrate that, revealing her side of things and giving us a look into what Carol was feeling, and that's one of the many things I'm very grateful for.

Yes omg. But even book!Carol, through her letters to Therese, wasn't as cold as some people
ake her out to be. She's harsh and she's bossy yeh but I sorta really like that about her lmao. And you're
right - it makes sense that the reason she was distant was because of her troubles. You can see when she's
distracted from them, what sort've happy person she can be, and then she was reminded of the shitstorm
back at home and she'd be all distant again. So sad.Β
Also I swear they better release the deleted scenes because I really want to see Therese and Abby meet for the
first time! When I watched it for the first time I was so confused as to why Therese said, "Why do you hate me?"Β
Because Abby didn't show any sign of being mean towards her, but now I know they cut out their first meeting
scene and it's like noooooooooooooooooooooo. Also cut out the sleepover at Carol's house the night before leaving.Β
Tbh I just want every deleted scene lmao. Except those including Richard bc he's mean lmao.
