Vanessa Kapatelis had a rough childhood as her mother didn't love her and only used her for psychiatrist testing. She never had a birthday or a christmas and she grew up as a cold woman and had to dance for love. One night, dancing in a Silver Swan like costume with cheap wings, her mother saw her and told her that she was not worth seeing and that she would never find love since it was all pointless in the end. Vanessa snapped and she ended up killing her mother, and she felt like she was free like a swan and finally happy for the first time ever, but then, Wonder Woman caught her and sent her to prison. 2 weeks later, Veronica Cale bailed her out and in return, she would work for her at Villainy Inc. to have revenge on Wonder Woman, and she of course agreed, under one condition, she would be known as Silver Swan, since the news called her that. She was robotized thanks to Lord's Tech and given a special compound to heal injuries from Cale and Poison.

But sadly, she would end up dying during Crisis 13, during the final battle to stop Darkseid's Forces from applying the Anti-Life Equation to earth.
