In doing this would you first mask out derek and then do the background (with the salt and suchness) then paint derek with the black being last??
Having done some watercolors I am curious about your process. : ) (looks nice by the way)

Alright, I see. (I guess I just assumed you use masking fluid because I know a lot of people do) Cool beans. : P I don't really enjoy the process of using masking fluid much so its nice to see such clean work without it (no matter what little mistakes you think you may have made)

I've never thought to use salt with water colours. How does that work, out of curiosity?

Basically, salt is absorbent so where you drop it is going to be all spackled looking, because it`s sucking up the colored water. You have to wait until it`s perfectly dry to wipe the salt off, though. Haha, my explanation kind of sucks... I guess you really have to actually try it yourself.
