SnakeEyes #5 coverPencils and inks by Agustin Padilla (still no DA account, but he is on Facebook!)
Colours by me.
This was my first rush job. Got an email with this lineart attached, and a note saying 'NOW! Please'... hey at least they said please. Got it done in 3 hours after flats. Wasn't really happy with the whole composition as it seems to lean to much into the left to me, but at least when the title and extras are added it should balance out a bit. Not my favourite!
Hope you like it anyway guys... wow, i'm posting stuff again haha

Looks good to me, the background is receding and Snakes is popping forward as the focus. Nice work!
Those windows in the background are huuuuge, bigger than the cars according to the perspective. I know that has nothing to do with your colors, but I just had to say something, haha.

Colorists work with what we're given.
Dynamism and energy can cover up a lot of little flaws in the lineart, though, and one thing this lineart has going for it is pedal-to-the-metal dynamic, haha.

Yep! Padilla has some great lines... they look really scrappy on first glance, but that just something to work alongside. I finished cover #6 yesterday from Padilla, and it was like just wind, snow and some patches of Snake Eyes gleaming through, I was at a loss at first (and flatting snowflakes is a ass to do amongst all the wind gust motion... but I gave it my best!)
You do an awesome cover work, need to see more of that mate... like that Sewer piece of yours! WOW!

Not your favourite!! Dude I actually love the colour on this. The moody nighttime street, the flash from the gunfire reflected on Snake. It's awesome!!

I like bits of it, just not the overall layout... feels more like a panel than a cover to me (and strangely enough #5's first panel is 3 secs before he jumps out the window... shhh, dont tell anyone, thats a super pointless and unrevealing spoiler haha!)
Glad you dig it though mate, I 'd love to have had time for more bg work, but SE and that dude will have to do for now

Yeah, I can see what you mean though, it could easily be a splash page actually. Still fantastic work considering the amount of time you had.
Do you get a lot of changes on your colour work when you do pages?
I'm probably the slowest colourist ever. It takes me like a whole day to colour something cos I'm pedantic and I experiment alot cos I never really know what kinda look I want on summin haha.

I'll challenge you, we'll have an anti-race haha! I can take a day or 2 on a page if I get the time, best not too, but sometimes I just like putting as much in as I can!
Not many changes no, IDW have been really cool, letting me do what I want basically. I'm not a massively exciting colourist. I dont use crazy colour schemes... I kinda just paint it as I see it I guess!! I'm prob a safe option as my rendering usually makes up for lack of awesome colours

Haha,you I'll take the same amount of time but it won't be close to as cool as your colouring. And you got that whole texture thing going, I haven't perfected that yet.
That's cool. It's great that you can feel that comfortable that things dont come back for changes. I know how disheartening that can be.

Changes, literally, ruin your day haha
Textures are simple mate, just play with layer properties (usually overlay or color burn for me) and tweak em with the levels and Saturation, rub out a few bits where you dont want so much! Just all about playing about. And habv=ving the right textures I suppose!!

Never done an underwater scene yet I dont think :/ I could be mightily shit at that haha! I'd much prefer a Nightwing over an Aquaman (never been a big fan of the character i'm afraid!)
