I'm so sad that I saw one of these Happy Meal toys in the toy bin at a local thrift store, but I had to get out of the way for some people coming through. I went back and IT WAS GONE! (Sob! Melodrama!) Okay, well, I wasn't really expecting it to be snatched up quite so quickly. (I dug around, even, just to make sure.) I figured I'd do a "me-too!" conversion.

Heh. Initial mistakes with these led to the walking trains.

Mistakes? They look pretty cool to me. Was it some sort of a game-mechanics consideration? (E.g., the vehicle in-game needs to fit on a certain-sized base, and this was too big?)

These were originally going to be the walking locomotives, and it didn't work out. It was after they'd sat, cut up and decrepit, for six months, that I went back to these and did something different.

Ah, I see! I had misunderstood, and thought that the six-leggers were the prototypes, and the walking locomotives were the final product. In a way, I think I like the six-leggers better (if only I could un-see the AT-TE toy element ), as they seem more sturdy and "plausible" (especially as a vehicle that could do any hauling of wagons, etc., a la a conventional locomotive).

Hey, don't get me wrong: I adore the two-legged walkers, too!
