Alrighty, so I knew I wanted one of the fossil lines to be based on elements of the La Brea Tar Pit, a famous ancient sight right in the middle of LA! I think the tar part of this Pokemon is obvious, but it's shape is a combination of the most common fossils they excavate from the tar pits, like ground sloths, saber tooth cats, and bears. Also, because the bones have been in the pits so long, they've turned black, hence the coloration of this fakemon!
