Moss Agate Pie was a miracle to her parents. They thought they would never have a kid of their own but, after years of trying, they had a breakthrough.

Mossy is a very intelligent individual and went to one of Equestria's best colleges. As a young filly, she could name 200 different types of gemstones (with the help of Auntie Maud). With her abilities, she studies the science and magical abilities of different stones (and sometimes supplies Rarity with unique ones that she finds).
