part of an educational series I'm doing. This one is the 'title page' of Donsaur's(the comic series title) What Makes A Stergosaur.
yes the name Stergosaur is intentional

The series will highlight issues of how many general,as well as many very good talented artists, mess up heavily with art depicting dinosaurs,and reconstruct them completely wrong.

In this picture,the inaccuracies are.

Turtle Face
Paired Plates
Low slung, turtle-like body.
Stubby tail
Short neck
Squat legs
Super fat

Other inaccuracies not depicted often include elephant, and turtle feet.

All of these are inexcusable in this day and age, and are errors barely even found in movies and documentaries 20+ years old.

Usually artists state that "we dont know what dinosaurs -really- looked like" so artists tend to draw whatever the fuck they feel like.
No, that is BS.
We know stegosaurus had an almost horse-like head, we know it had staggered/ alternating plates along it's back,not paired, we know it has four roughly 3 foot long spikes on it's tail. We know it had a graceful frame, long strong legs, we know how it's feet were, we know it had an armored throat ,even armor0like scales on it's sides,on a highly mobile neck, we know it was built to be pretty damn nimble, and could even almost hit itself in the side with its large,powerful,and highly flexible tail.

We know all of this.. so how are people doing it all completely wrong?

There are no excuses, especially with good artists that put out quality work. Aren't you referencing the wolves you draw? The snow leopards? the Cheetahs? why stop at dinosaurs? People look up to them and they can't even look at real paleoart as a reference and do it right. But people will eat it up anyways. It's a shame
