Thanks! Funny you like stained glass. My mom ran her own business and taught classes at the college for 15 years or so until the economy kinda killed it. Now that she lives out here in VA and so many people have gardens I'm trying to talk her into making stepping stones.

I've always thought it was amazing. Just a matter of making the time to do it.
That's cool. Did you get a chance to sit in with your mom and learn? That's too bad re he biz side of things but I hope she still gets the opportunity to enjoy doing it, for fun sake Just curious, did she take pics of the work she did? I imagine she'd have quite the collection over 15 years.
Yeah, fused glass step stones would be awesome and she could post em on DA. I'm bad with this stuff...I'll be like..."stained glass, yes!...and next day at the supply store eager to learn. Next day I'll be checking out various stained glass work and stumble across art clay silver...and bam, EBay here I come...the it's fused glass. I made it 1/2 way to buying a kiln before I caught myself.

Oh yeah, I used to do inventory with her, I went to the classes with her some nights. When I wanted to earn extra money she'd let me do her grinding and foiling, or draw patterns for her. Back when I still believed in that stuff, we did all the windows in our church. I did a few projects of my own, including a wicked badass dragon once, I never got a picture of it, gave it to a friend. Mom has tons of pics, but she's not very computer savvy. She's going to do the front windows around our door, maybe I'll post some pics when she's done. She had a huge kiln and everything. The dichroic glass is ssssoooo awesome, but expensive.

What are yeh gonna make? You don't see too many tattoo designs converted to glass. Some skulls or brass knuckles, old school roses would look wicked as stained glass patterns. Do small suncatchers or nightlights and you could probably sell them.

That's cool. What are great opportunity to learn and spend time with you mom doing something fun and creative
Yeah, most of the really cool stained glass is always in churchs. The atmosphere/lighting in a cathedral with tons of stain glass is fricken awesome!
That'd be nice to see if you do your doors. What'd kind of design were you thinking of?
Well first off, I think I'm going making some small suncatchers but the plan is eventually to get to the point of doing orchids and something like [link]
and incorporate some glass into metal art (there's metal octopus in the back of my head waiting to come out...lol).
How about you, ever think of getting back into it?

I wouldn't mind doing another stained glass project, I have cutters, pliers and a grinder and soldering iron in the garage... but I have no time. I work 50 hours a week and live an hour from home. I couldn't imagine how much time I WOULDN'T have if I had kids. Maybe on a day off I'll help mom with the front door windows... We live in the woods, so she's doing a bunch of fallen leaves in fall colors.

That rabbit kicks ass! And I love octopuses. I wanna do an octopus tattoo on my throat in the next couple months. Have you seen the little metal animals they make for stained glass? The ones my mom sold the most were hummingbirds and faeries, it's just a little lead figure and you make the wings out of glass and solder them on.

yeah, same here as far as time goes. 12-8 (+1-2 hours a day cleaning, etc) 5 days a week. But I have a magic time maker that enables me to make time where there isn't any.
That sounds cool re the door panel. Nice living in the woods, eh? we're almost in the woods...cottage country, about 35 mins to the small town where the studio is.
Throat octopus would be wicked.
Can't say I have seen those little metal animals. I'll probably end up making a whole bunch of stuff noone ends up buying but have a load of fun making them, good enough.
cheers.
