Description
Brownie was born a off color brown spinel. she was smart, kind, caring, nurturing, happy, and emerged from her kindergarten with real hopes and dreams, she just wanted to make people happy. at first she didnt realize that her color had ended up a off color brown tint. all of her kindergarten sisters were vibrant beautiful prime colors but mostly that of a pink variety, the pink shades were most favorable, other prime colors were not considered to be natural beauties... blue, red, green, yellow they could all still serve a variety of purposes on homeworld as they would not be considered beautiful enough to make showy companions to the higher up gems that sought them out due to hectic schedules where they simply had no time to socialize and make friends or companions of theyre own. however the prime colors, to the delight of the diamonds, were quite versatile and could literally fall into place of ANY role or task they were given. (all spinels had these distinguishable traits, but the pinkish spinels were never given the chance to show them that they were capable of so much more than what was expected/required of them. so much was the same for brownie. she was quite capable of completing most tasks placed in front of her.
her kindergarten sisters stared at her wide eyed as she appoached them with out streched arms excited to make theyre acquaintance. she paused mid step as the group hastily began to back up as if she was something to be avoided at all costs... a look of confusion on Brownies face she asked "im sorry im new here i just wanted to join in this groups embrace, i would very much like to be held as well. ive never touched another being and i think i would quite enjoy it..."
the group continued to stare at her, she could tell that something was wrong, why didnt they embrace her as they did with eachother?
" PERIDOT!!! PERRRIIIIDOT! PERIIIIIDOT!" the group began yelling desperately still staring at brownie as if she was something to fear. a tall peridot walked over to the group "adequate, ... adequate.... quite fine yes you came out a brilliant pink very nice, adequate... adequate.... " peridot stopped in mid sentance quickly forgetting her job of inspecting the new spinels. in front of her was a brown spinel, dull, nothing lustrous about it. she felt herself becoming offended by brownies appearance .- "INADEQUATE!!! INADEQUATE!!" peridot began yelling through a gem voice amplifier.
Brownie opened her eyes confused... was it all just a nightmare? had ahe dreampt it all ? she looked up to see yellow diamond peering through squinting lids. "inadequate indeed peridot, is this what our precious resources are being used to create? we cannot reverse engineer this off colored gem and start over, im sure you are aware of this, we cant just destroy it, that would be a waste of our resources that we used to create ... it...... .......
Thus this thing will have a purpose just as every other adequate gem. you will transport her to the armory laboratory, explain to them not to destroy it, i want them to use this gem to try out all of our new gem dissipation weapons. poof her as many times as you see fit, but DO NOT BREAK HER, i dont want to have to put another gem in the position that this off color gem will be filling. i want proper documentations to be made, and tell nobody about this."
yellow diamond looked at Brownie, "now there you should feel nothing but appreciation that ive found a purpose for you, and this is what you shall be ..... forever....... now salute your diamond and praise me for my merciful decision to keep you alive..."
"My diamond.... you are ever so gracious.... im so.... so... happy.. that i can be of use to you... my only wish is to please you." brownie said through crestfallen tear filled eyes. she was terrified, the truth of her unfortunate circumstances starting to resonate deep in her gem. is pain all im ever going to feel? will i never know what it is to feel happiness.... or love... ?..
