Description Sauropodus is an as yet undescribed genus of dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous. It was a sauropod which lived in what is now Argentina. It was informally announced in 2001, and has not yet been formalised.

Edith Simon, an Argentine palaeontologist, told reporters the animal was "30 yards long and weighed about 70 tons"( or ~27.4 metres). The fossils, which were found beneath the town of Villa el Chocon in Neuquen province, consist of segments of vertebrae, ribs, and limb bones. Were their statement correct, then Sauropodus would be one of the largest dinosaurs ever.

Its humerus measured 1.7 metres long.

I didn't have as much data regarding titanosaur humeri lengths back when I wrote that statement as I do now. I'm going to need to scale it myself to see how big it ends up.

Those "strands" are quills, which are long, thin elongated scales.

What led you to think that Sauropodus was one of those "20-meter losers", may I ask? Because it was reported to be over ~27 meters long...nothing states it to be less than that...

Anyway, I hope this sauropod gets described soon...

It's been over 3 years, but I just found this:

theropoddatabase.com/Macronari…

You turned out to be closer to the mark all along The humerus was only ~1.7 meters long...
