I came up with an idea for a "what if" timeline in the Zelda series which goes a little like this: what if Ganondorf had been successful during the events of Ocarina of Time? What if he managed to completely take over Hyrule and rule it for centuries? I wanted to show a realistic, renaissance-styled papal Ganondorf. He is inspired by many portraits of popes, Christ, the facial likeness of Peter Cushing and Emperor Palpatine, and the borrowed hairstyle from Gary Oldman as Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Oh, and I'm sure "Grandpadorf" from Brawl subconsciously inspired me to make a truly old Ganondorf.Related content

Fantastic, really just simply phenomenal, it gives me the chills. Then again all you work does so why should I be surprised really. The Legend of Zelda is the location of my inner fanboy I love the series and your Ganon is just .... I feel like I'm staring into the face of Justified Evil he would make an awesome final boss someday.

Cheers! I really took inspiration from Dracula (the Gary Oldman variety), and ya know... I still want to see a Dracula-esque Ganon; I think about it from time to time. I am inspired to attempt this concept once more now. Thanks for reminding me, and stay tuned!

I was looking at more of you work and I realized, that you Staldorf could be easily the second form of this guy, you beat him and then his body burns up and he comes back as a skeleton. Not sure if you planed it that way, if so your genius, not that you art isn't crazy great as it is.

When drawing Staldorf, I realized how similar he was to Grand Emperor Ganon. The flowing robe (that's barely different in form, only blue instead of red), the same trident, a relatively similar statureβyes, they are related. But they are simply concepts and weren't intended to be a pair of forms to fight in a hypothetical game. In fact, Staldorf never had much of a backing concept other than, "a skeletal Ganondorf", as proposed by a friend on Smashboards however long ago that was (two years?).

the entire point of Ocarina is that the game sets off a huge amounts of "what ifs" and certain games correspond with that. The reason why ganon is always a pig monster in some games while he isn't in others. That's because in those games he's already recieved the triforces power by defeating Link in Ocarina.

I submitted this on January 6, 2011. Nintendo unveiled their timeline at the end of 2011. Until they did, no one knew about the third "failure" timeline. I believe my thoughts coincided with theirs.
