Description A close relative of the Wood Duck, Mandarin Ducks are very rare in the Vancouver BC area, but this is an escapee from a farm or park. She does have a homemade yellow zip-tie band on her leg, and is very used to people. Shot in Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver BC

Oh what a pretty lady! Here on the other side of the world one can also find a few stray escapees (or descendants of them). Always strange to stumble upon a delicate beauty like this in the wild! I can never get over how little they are. And such elegance... Great job on capturing this fine lady in such detail Being an escaped pet sure helps, the ones I see here are always very nervous!

Thank you! She is from Vancouver BC, and she is an escapee, hence her ziptie band. There is an adult male in Burnaby BC as well, but I'm pretty sure he is an escapee also.

Nope, not that I have seen, she just hangs out with the Mallards and Wigeons.
