Grayson stared up at the stars, blinking slowly, wondering what his totem would be once his journey was over. He was told by the elder shaman of his pack that he’d need to visit the Soul Pool in order for the spirits to tell him what it would be. It was a journey that all tokotas must take when it is their time to reach dominance. He had been journeying to the Soul Pool for two days already and he couldn’t help but hope for certain totems to be revealed to him. He knew he was pretty loyal so there was a high chance for his soul animal to be a wolf. He probably wouldn’t get a kingfisher as his totem since he never really found himself being patient. He laughed to himself, he definitely was hoping this journey would be over soon, though he was excited about the revealing of his totem. He lowered his head and drifted off into sleep, dreaming of his totem to be. The next day, Grayson woke up early. He just felt excited for some reason almost like he knew that his journey to the Soul Pool was close to the end. He packed up all his belongings and continued down the path he had been on, taking breaks every now and again to look at the map he had to make sure he was still on the right track. Finally, after hours of walking he made it to the rocky destination of the Soul Pool. There was still daylight left over so he decided to hunt or gather any food he could as he had barely eaten today. He found some cooked meat in the bottom of his pack and he decided that he might as well eat it. His pack must have put it in there as they helped him pack his stuff for the journey. So, as he ate, Grayson watched the sun set on the horizon and watched the stars slowly flicker to life. And as the minutes passed, it had finally become time for Grayson to enter the Soul Pool. He left his items outside and walked to the waters nervously. His heart was practically trying to beat out of his body. He looked into the waters seeing himself and gulped. Slowly he lowered his head, closed his eyes, and took a drink from the cool waters of the Soul Pool. His body went cold and he could see his breath in the air. Grayson shivered. The icy sensation gone from his body, but now on the tip of his nose. He opened his eyes and there in front of him was the biggest bear he had ever set his eyes on. Their noses were touching and he felt a power flow through his body as the bear slowly disappeared. Grayson collapsed overcome with exhaustion. As he breathed, he could almost feel the spirit of the bear inside him, breathing with him, giving him the strength to stand once more. With a deep breath in, Grayson stood and made his way away rom the Soul Pool. Taking no notice of the bear on the mystical rocks of the pool, that seemed to watch him as he left.
