Description
This piece is inspired by men and women who take the highest monastic tonsure in the Orthodox Church, called the "schema." Hence, here is my depiction of a schemamonk.I have always held a profound reverence for the monks and nuns who take the schema. It's actually rarely approved by the abbot or bishop. These men and women live a life devoted to surrendering themselves to the work of saving the souls of every living and departed person through their endless prayers and asceticism. Their life is by no means an easy one, since it demands that they become dead to evil passions. It is humbling to know that without them, this earth could come to destruction, for they are among those who are preserving it. Glory be to God for giving us such holy ones!
