—“What that smell?” Kiongozi grumbled.
“Why are you being so loud?,” Zuri yanwed behind him “it’s almost the end of patrol, and we’ve been tracking this scent trail for hours”
”It’s not just passing through. If it was, it wouldn’t be going in circles” Kukimbilia turned over a rock and looked over at the horizon.
A sharp mewling alerted the patrol of cubs nearby. Prowling in front of his guard, Kion pushed some ferns aside to reveal two sickly cheetah cubs squirming atop each other. A running noise in the distance attracted Zuri’s attention.
”Rehema! Bahati!” A panicked voice came from the bushes.
The running noise came closer until suddenly, a figure flew over a rock and tripped through the field, causing everyone to look over at the cheetah who had landed front-first near the cub’s nest.
”Who goes there?” Kion leapt in between the animal and the cubs.
Coughing away dirt, the cheetah backed up with her fur spiked.
“My name is Fuli uh, sir”
”Are these your cubs?” Kion flicked his tail towards the den.
“Yes sir. I know there are laws against hunting close to pride rock at night, but I wasn’t hunting! I was-“
”Enough cheetah,” Kion’s gaze softened as he looked back at the two cubs “I have cubs of my own. I know you’d do anything for them”
”But I thought carnivores weren’t allowed to nest within Pride Rock’s innermost territory. The other guard had personally kicked me out of this chunk of territory for trying to nest here!”
”Well, the members of the other guard don’t have cubs,” Kion smiled towards the cubs “They also won’t be on patrol for the next few days. My guard can help move your cubs to a location that follows the law and keeps your family safe. Even if we have to suggest new places for old residents” he murmured the last part to his guard.
“Thank you sir” the cheetah walked over her cubs and nestled them.
Kion looked at them and saw his own.

Well well well, look who’s back to this AU. It’s me! This is a little interaction between this AU’s guard and a member of Kion’s canon guard.
So, for a little extra story that I was too lazy to write fully —> Fuli’s “mate” is Azaad. They don’t raise the cubs together (since google says cheetahs raise the cubs alone) but as the only other cheetah around, there’s no other choice but finding him every once in a while
Ill never touch upon this specific thing again, so they leave the cubs in a mini oasis far enough from Pride Rock so Fuli shouldn’t interfere with lioness hunting too often, but still not too close to the Outlands to make her worry about her cubs.
Also! Who’s Kion’s mate? Who are his cubs? How many of both does he have? All shall be revealed eventually~
Not to spoil anything, but the reason Zuri looks so bad is a mix between what the patrol found and who Kion’s mate(s) could possibly be!
If you zoom in on the picture, there are faded scars all over Kion. The one’s on his legs/paws are from his cubs playing too rough with him. The others? You’ll find out.
