Description The Colonel was once considered by many to be Haven's greatest warrior and was expected to be named the Krusader Commander by Mar for his actions in the raid on the Marauder city of Kommorah. However, when he was reassigned to lead Krusaders in the campaign against the Lurker tribes in the North, the Colonel went AWOL.
After what he saw at Kommorah, the Colonel viewed Mar as being a hypocrit: Mar ran a liberal state, spoke out against Maraud's abuse of women, and insisted that Haven's military respect and protect human rights. However, Mar's private army (the Krusader Unit) as well as Mar himself, was viciously brutal in combat and neglected Haven's rules of war regarding civilians and POWs. The savage tactics designed to fight metalhead armies were employed by the Krusaders against Marauder militants and Lurker rebels; Krusaders had even razed settlements of noncombatants. The Colonel knew that Mar himself had been soley responsible for destroying a Marauder village.
In the Northern Jungles, the AWOL Colonel created his own army of lurkers to demonstrate true horror: war without feeling, without passion, and without judgment. He sought to destroy the Krusader Unit and to push Mar to reconsider using total war tactics against non-metalhead opponents. He started by slaughtering the soldiers under his command (whose scalps now hang around his neck) and gorily massacring lurker villages that had collaborated with the Krusaders.
Mar, who believed the man had gone completely mad, trekked into the jungle himself to to find the Colonel and "persuade" him to put a stop to the relentless blood-shed. Mar persuaded him with extreme prejudice.

it should, HoD (and Apocalypse Now, which is based on HoD)is where I got my inspiration. The precursor text on the blue book at his feet reads 'Joseph Conrad' and the tatoo on his chest is supposed to resmble a four-chambered heart.
