well... he looks like a large and muscular figure, which would immediately make me think something along the lines of norsemen as well, however after some research, it would appear that the build suits some ancient russian designs, but the armor itself doesn't fit into any particular category, it looks like it is a combination of a few middle earth designs, particularly Rome and Greece, combined in a fashion that looks like it could have had norse origins.
I've seen the helmet design in a couple places before, but none of them actually tag it to a specific culture, instead using it to represent some very evil character in a fantasy world, but normally it covers the entire face.
I haven't done much research on armor, but it looks like a fairly common design made more expensive via some ornate designs, which I\m no expert on and couldn't tell you teh origin of for the life of me... but you're absolutely correct, it does look and feel more norse design... it's hard to tell with him squatting like that XD.

well I think you have an excellent view of this piece...he definately can become all sorts of different characters...I have never researched anything I draw..I just draw what I think fits
