Strahd and Xyranthe has a very intimate(non-sexual/non-romantic at this point) friendship during her time in Castle Ravenloft. Due to her practical and evil nature she was able to understand him and many of the decisions he had made; making her the perfect shoulder for him to cry on. For her part, Strahd was the first person to really see her for who she was, rather than just another Lolth Worshipping Drow(in fact, she fled the Underdark because she personally hates Lolth) or a potential Hero like Drizzt. Xyranthe is a cold, calculating, and Selfish woman; but at the core of her, what she truly seeks is a sense of genuine belonging. Unfortunately, she ended up seeking it from Strahd.
