So I forget how this happened exactly, but one day on myspace, Drew, the artist/co-creator of Sullengrey, contacts me and compliments me on my artwork. I'd been a fan of his art work as well the day I first saw Sullengrey in the comic book store. I had only read 1 issue at the time I started talking with him, and eventually he wanted me to do a pin-up for him. So as an exchange he gave me the first 4 issues of Sullengrey for a pin-up. I read the 4 issues before I dove into a pin-up (makes sense right?) and fell in love with Sullengrey. What a neat series this is. It's very much a Gothic comic with true horror elements and a spooky back story that slows reveals itself to the reader over time. It's got lots of lovely little refferences here and there from "The Smiths,""Bauhaus," to "The Dresden Dolls." (I'm not much of a fan of The Dresden Dolls.. but I got the refference.) It's fun, it's dark and gritty, and Drew's illustrations are hot as hell.
I recommend picking up Sullengrey. You'll love it if you liked Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Gloom Cookie, Nightmares and Fairytales, Ben Templesmith's art work (i don't know how Ben's books read... yet), and other comics of that type.
I'll let you guys know if this picture surfaces into one of Drew's books in the future.

Fantastic picture, i love the gloomy expressions and blends of black and purple, and i'd really appreciate it if somebody could identify and tell me what materials you've used to do the colours.
I can see Chalk and Charcoal i think but i can't make out what the purple is from, is it chalk too?

it's amazing what you can do with just a pencil & photoshop. normally people ink their drawings which i suck at doing >.>...

It's very nice, I like the scarf, the swirly background, the glowy eyes, and just the setup of the whole thing. I like it a lot.
Chamber is an entirely insignificant character from X-Men, and the resemblance is entirely trivial. It doesn't make it necessarily better or worse.

I love the dull, gritty colours. The stylized elements such as the skulls look awesome too. So spooky.

They are...wheee, skulls...doo doo doo......lol anyway yes...Sullengrey is always enjoyable, even if the comic shops and all here don't really carry it regularly.....*shrug* True true yes...things are always better with a few skulls around.
