Description   **Please expand image; it looks better that way!**

Prototype H-1, nicknamed Harpocrates or "Harpy" by Dr. Livingstone and Destiny, is the most successful prototype of Project ONI headed by Genesis Research, as he retains human-level reasoning while able to express tissue adaptation--he can form appendages at will and at a very fast rate.  Korrisgauf, a country recently reconstructing after a catastrophic nuclear war, has been developing many new weapons, including adaptable soldiers like Harpocrates, in fear of their vulnerable state being taken advantage of by opportunistic countries.  Harpocrates appears to be that glimmer of hope for Korrisgauf, as he has been proven to be very effective.  Various testing has consisted of inflicting lacerations, gunshots, and other such injuries to his body. He has managed to recover from every injury, including those that normally would be lethal to normal people.  He has even recovered from four gunshot wounds to the brain.  His recovery from that particular test spanned several weeks--oddly enough, his brainstem managed to keep its own tempo during his brain-dead state.

Harpocrates does not speak, since his Broca's area was pruned during development to encourage conformity.  Despite this, he has learned to draw and write.  Dr. Livingstone, head of Harpocrates's development, kindly provided him with a piece of chalk to draw with; Harpocrates uses this to draw on the walls of his observation chamber.  Harpocrates appears to display symptoms similar to schizophrenia--possibly caused by feeding him stimulants like amphetamines during testing--and frequently draws his hallucinations.  Destiny, who is in charge of chores such as delivering food to prototype cells, often helps talk Harpocrates through some of his paranoia, though most of it is unfortunately well-grounded.  Destiny also uses her telepathy to soothe Harpocrates. She tends to be one of the few threads holding his sanity and humanity together.

Wow... You were right about the image size when it's expanded. It does look better this way. But at the same time, I got spooked out by the monstrous-looking drawing on the wall.

Still, the whole drawing looks great. I like the story behind Harpocrates and about his friendship with Destiny. Nice job!

Well that didn't take long, and my goodness do we have a fantastic character on our hands here.

A nigh invincible lab monkey intent on being an immortal soldier suffering mild hallucinations from the drugs ingested into his system leading to his paranoid delusions and schizophrenic episodes helped only by the telepath who it seems might be intent on being something of a 'handler' to give Harpy a leash from which those who work behind the scenes can manipulate to their liking.

I must admit I find the idea of Destiny acting as one of the few threads that keep Harpocrates hanging onto the world quite endearing, but regardless as such I can't help but get the impression that things are about to go wrong for the two very very quickly should one of Harpy's paranoid delusions or Destiny get any bright ideas on trying to control him.

The fact that he's an experimental soldier prototype that's susceptible to hallucinations as well as a mute does give me some major Pointman vibes, but this is something that I consider a good thing given that Harpocrates begins life as a tormented puppet used to test the limits of the Project's research into creating a disposable armada of immortal soldiers before growing as a person as he experiences pain, hardships, compassion, fear, essentially living out a life that I'm guessing with the help of Destiny will allow him to gain his own perspective on life and the world around him.

But, that's just my pre-story I have no idea what's gonna happen, speculations as to what you've got in store for him, but regardless as such I love him already.

And the character design alongside the artwork accompanying this is just icing on the cake.

The bags under his eyes indicative of his fatigue and thin build telling the viewer that he's suffered some atrophy from the stimulants and drugs pumped into his system that despite his body's regenerative abilities still requires care and proper nutrition which gives the impression that Harpocrates has been suffering like this for some time now.

However the cherry on top of this schizophrenic sundae is both his expression and the drawings painted across the walls of his cell. He looks almost childlike in that he's trying to express the very hallucinations that torment him and in a way make him frightened, unable to scream, yet silently crying out for help as he seeks out the council of anyone who would listen to him and make these nightmare creatures go away.

Ah... My excitement for this upcoming project grows the more I learn about this world and its characters.

Fantastic work, I'm definitely sticking around to see this come to fruition my friend, I'm hooked : )

I'm so glad you're enjoying my characters so far! I'm still debating whether or not to keep it as a written work or graphic novel/web comic. Hmm. There'll be more to come!
