There's a lot of mystery surrounding their past together, and it makes you wonder what might have gone on between them... I just like the idea of them overcoming their differences and falling in love.

my hopes are high for something about them over coming their past, or idk getting some back story.... the cutsens are going to be in a visual novel format so thats not that hard to see happening.
(that and finally seeing dail true personlity or Neera realtion to SHuigang)

I don't like this. Spade's relationship with Lilac relies entirely on backstory and headcanons, while he himself, at least in my book, never entered into my good graces by the end of the game. Plus he has no awareness that he nearly caused the end of the world, and yet he STILL tries to play it cool.
A redemptive romance isn't a bad idea at all. With Spade though? I can't bring myself to see it here.

...Spade is a terrible character, I have to admit. I have no idea how they managed to screw him up as badly as they did when he was supposed to be so important. But yeah, the game's terrible writing totally screwed him over, and literally everything that involves Spade in the slightest totally suffers for it.
In an alternate universe where Freedom Planet has a decent story with a Spade whose personality is more than just a n g r y, I'd like to think that this pairing wouldn't get the bad rep that it does. But oh well.

This pairing has bad rep? Last I checked, at least it has fanfics for it on ff.net! And not troll fics or lame ones either. Stuff that actually has effort put into it. I remember one where Spade comforts Lilac after she feels sad for not being able to kill Brevon. It at least had a good hook, and while it wasn't anything great, it wasn't bad either.
Torlac has none. ZERO.
I didn't even know Lilade had a reputation. I know Torlac doesn't on ff.net! At least it has fanart... Ah well...

It gets a bad rep from pretty much everyone who doesn't ship it, particularly non-shippers. The people who do ship it, thankfully, are pretty passionate.
