Awesome, and holy shit, you made that fast. I wish I was that good in 3Ds max. I am learning through lynda tutorials and from a proffesional graphics designer friend. Anyways this is really nice. a few things could be made nicer but for the time you spent on this it is amazing!

actually this was made in c4d, before my max era began, this is actually one of my very first models. i am glad you like it.

maybe a little bit too much reflect on the floor but still quite realistic

WTF the chord is like that when its new!!! u see when u get summin like that new, its got the black pladtic thing wrapped round it, so wen u take it off its gonna be angular..

so i think GREAT job!!!

spoudastis In reply to have-faith [2004-09-25 18:48:14 +0000 UTC]

lol thank you so much for the comment, i didnt want to argue with anyone so i didnt mention that that is exactly how the chord was. nice job on picking up on that. i appreciate you taking a look!!

Looks great man. Id just change the reflection on the prong, looks like its outdoors. Other than that it looks great.

ya thats a good point, and you are right cause its a hdr of the woods. maybe i could tone it done a bit. thanks for the comment!!

blender3d [2004-09-23 14:11:19 +0000 UTC]

great modelling and texturing, apart from the floor - perhaps a bit too "perfectly" reflective, if you are going for realism - try to reduce reflection and add a subtle bumpmap, which adds linear bumps (as if to simulate the "grain" of the varnish)... make the bends in the wire slightly more curved - the bends seem a little unnatural. Very good peice overall though

wow i really appreciate your in depth comment. i will definetly work on it and you are absolutely correct about the floor reflectivity, and i do need to add a slight bump. by the way i saw your gate model on the 3dluvr site, very interesting stuff...great work.

did u try sum sweep NURB modelling for the cable? very nice btw

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

spoudastis In reply to VorX- [2004-09-23 17:14:03 +0000 UTC]

yes, it is just a simple spline with a sweep on it, then copied and moved over a bit. thanks for looking!!

Very cool - how do you do modeling like that, like with the cord & such....? I'm trying to learn...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

spoudastis In reply to iamblinkin [2004-09-20 00:51:03 +0000 UTC]

well for the chord i just made a squigly spline and then swept it with a circle spline. then i copied that and moved it over a bit so it looks like 2 wires. let me know if you have any other questions. good luck!

terragod [2004-09-13 07:51:10 +0000 UTC]

very cool, the wire/cable is a little too stiff, but seems its new you could let it slide because it was folded up for packeging

Awesome work, I'd have to pick on the cord as well but everything else looks pretty good!!! I really like the bump map on the wall.

hey thanx for commenting, ya ill take a look at the chord and see what i can do.

vexinc [2004-09-11 06:09:57 +0000 UTC]

If i had to be LOOKING for areas of improvement... I'd say that the chord could be a bit
smoother and fluid. It kinda looks too angular and .....(a rushy modeling job) for lack
of better wording But that's being a fellow 3D student being picky!
It's a great job...nice work.

you are the second person to comment on the chord so ill definetely take a look at it and see what i can do. thanks for taking your time to comment.
