Description This is one of those, "it seemed like a good idea at the time" pics, that didn't turn out quite the way I wanted. But it's good practice anyway...this one took me a long time to do.

Here is the Gatchaman team grieving the loss of Joe at the end of the series. It seemed to fit in the series to have the spirit of Joe watching over the team.

The background is a Gatchaman screenshot (of course). *grin*

Joe dies?? My knowledge of the series is still limited, and I haven't been a fan that long.

I watched it as Battle of the Planets, I guess I didnt watch the whole series (stopped being shown or I grew out of it) because I wasnt aware that Jason died. What happened to him anyway?

I grew up watching Battle of the Planets, too. Only recently, did I find out that Battle of the Planets (or G-Force, as I called it) was taken from a Japanese show called Gatchaman. ADV recently released all 105 episodes of Gatchaman, and it is soooo much better than Battle of the Planets. BOTP cut out so many great scenes, and butchered many great story lines. They left out several of the last episodes, where Joe's (Jason's)health declines and he is killed by Galactor (Spectra).

Well done! Joe kind of looks as if he's saying, "what're you so unhappy about?!" Which would be like him.

Well, I couldn't find the perfect background for this...and I really wanted Joe more in the sky...and...Joe is looking off to who knows where...but I guess this will do...

It's a shame you couldn't pull any backgrounds off #105, with the mountains and the fog.

Have you seen the watercolor of the "death scene" that was done by Gatchaman producer, Sadao Miyamoto? That one gives me goose bumps.

105? Why didn't I think of that? I can do that...thanks so much!! I'll fix this one...

no...do you have a link to that pic? It sounds great!

Now that I go looking for it, I realized it's probably not online. I have two posters of it somewhere (it was a poster in Animage magazine). I'll have to dig it up and scan it... wherever I put it...

The same artist did something similar for a postcard here: [link]

This series was first known in Japan as Gatchaman. In the late 70's it was reintroduced in America as Battle of the Planets, but most people just called it G- Force. In the 80's, it was brought back as G-Force: Guardians of Space, and finally...in the 90's it was shown on Cartoon Network as Eagle Riders...

Here is a great resource site to jog your memory...
