I love this! It reminds so much of all those fairy tale princesses who just yearn for freedom but are torn between their dreams and their duties. Congrads of getting the Daily Deviation!

Wow. I was just wondering off in DA and your drawing came to me. I really, really like it. I think it's simple and, in its simplicity you can find a lot of different meanings to the drawing. I like the structure, the only thing I would change about it is the big tree of the middle. I won't erase it, I would just move it a couple of spots to the right. I like her expression and the way she's looking down, like she is hopeless about something. The spots and dots of the trees -that, I guess, simulate the leaves- are really, really good. I mean, I really like them because it's the kind of thing that adds texture to the drawing. The light in the center of the picutre adds depth to it and makes it very... good? No, I just said that. I don't know, I'm just really amazed by this. Because it is very simple but it catches the attention and makes it stand out...
Just ending, if you wanted to make the girl stand out you shhould have made her lighter or something like that. But if you wanted to make the drawing stand out by the whole picture and not by the details, it's fine the way it is.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! I did mean to make her kind of 'disappear' into the background, since I'm tired of my characters always being the center of attention in my drawings. I'll remember your input for future art though! C:

you have some awesome shading on the tree in the foreground, it would be nice to see that on the character.
but then again it wouldn't fit the style
other then that it looks fantastic

I love your very subtle use of gradients. I especially love the use of speckled shading, because it makes those gradients less noticeable, fooling the mind into thinking it's just single colors. Well done.
The only real flaws I'm seeing are that the balusters are just floating and not connected to anything. It makes them seem like they have more importance that they should, because we ask or wonder why they are just floating like that.
The only other problem is just with the general composition. The focus is supposed to be the girl, right? But she seems to blend with the foreground a little too much, and our eyes are drawn to the pillar in the middle just as much. It really feels like we are not supposed to pay attention to the background at all, but your title and description speak of a longing to explore. Where is the focus? What are we supposed to be looking at?
It might look better if you moved that pillar to the very edge of image, and pulled those rocks to where that pillar is now. That framing would really contribute to a "boxed in feeling." If you did that you would likely want to also put some piece of interest in the center, something to signify the exploring that isn't being done, or the audience would wonder what she's longing for.
(Alternatively the image could be widened instead of swapping the location of the pillar and the rocks, so long as something was placed in the middle to draw focus.)
If you were really into symbolism you could even make the balusters tall and skinny as if they were jail-bars.
Aesthetically though, it looks amazing.

I know how you feel; but it's hard to imagine, because from what I expect, the world is full of...nothingness; maybe bugs or plants, or animals/birds that run away, or people that ignore you.

Haha yes, but apart from that there's just so much to see! There would've been so many things unknown to you back in the days, like if you'd sail an ocean you wouldn't know if you'd eventually fall of the edge of the earth for example. Not knowing all that made things just so much more exciting <3
