Tea? IΒ  must how know how that technique works!

She is a beautiful character! Great job on her. I especially love her fluffy collar and the feathers in her hair.

Thank you very much, dear! I was going for more of a somewhat feral/tribal approach to her. She's one of my newer characters, so I have much work to do on her!

Using tea is actually pretty simple. You can paint with it as you do watercolor (I should try it sometime,) though in my paintings I use it to create a beige/cream colored surface, add texture to the overall piece, and as a skin tone! After I ink, I add a light wash of the tea to the paper/board with fresh brewed tea, and letting it air dry. I use micron pens for inking so that when I add the washes it won't bleed or feather! I also add layers by spattering the tea with a brush onto the paper and letting it dry. I do this till I get the desired effects. After that I break open the tea bags andΒ  scatter the grains in various clump sizes to add more texture. (This usually gives a darker stain.) I use Lipton tea bags for this, nothing too fancy, but I would like to experiment with other types of tea, as they will probably give different tones. For areas with skin, should the spatter get onto them, I blend them into the existing layers or blot them out gently with paper towel. I hope this helps! ^_^

Yep, tea! I stain the paper with tea first before painting with watercolor. It adds interesting textures and a beige/cream background color, which I use as also a base for skin color. I like it because it softens and dulls the overall piece a little bit I found, which I love the look of.

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of it either. I could just use watercolor to do the almost same effect, but I prefer tea lol.

I love chamomile with apple and spices. <3 Mint with the chamomile sounds like it'll be good too! That is a good idea, maybe I'll try experimenting with other varieties of teas and see how it stains the paper. :3

Haha. I love spices. <3 I was actually contemplating seeing how I like whole leaf at some point.. I usually stick to just one or two teas, and I never add anything to it like honey and such. I think it just ruins it. ):

i tried honey and stuff but i like just a tiny bit of sugar to remove that plain taste, or if its a bitter brew gets rid of most of that aswell, im not a coffee person so im not big on bittery tastes, but i do love the taste of plain tea, thats why i got rid of the teabags, their more bitter then loose leaf or whole leaf teas, i sometimes pop a drop of lemon juice in but....cant beat normal tea tbh i agree

I don't drink coffee at all, but I don't mind bitter for the most part, unless it's extremely bitter, then I'll add just a tiny bit of sugar to sweeten it.. I usually add a little lemon or lime juice to ginger tea when I have an inkling for that. I rarely feel the need to add to tea though.
