yeah i thought about that too, it would definitely work!
the reason i chose thief though is because he stole the trees for his own personal gain when they didnt belong to him :3c
literally took them away to make into thneeds therefore taking their life and also the life the swomee swans and barbaloots and humming fish had been living..
so i think he could definitely be either thief or prince c:
