Description I'm not sure what the meaning of this all is. I mean the photo, not the monument. The monument is beautiful, I'll pay respect to it in another deviation.

But I liked these women, they were epic. LOL

There's something quite fascinating about this shot, had me wondering what or who they were talking about, and what lay ahead as they appear to be walking in quite an animated way.

With KΓ€the Kollwitz's sculpture of a Mother with her dead son centred by these two women, it makes it all the more intrigueing. I wonder if this was pertinent to you making the shot - or was it primarily the two recycled teenagers that caught your eye?

I'm not going to offer any technical advice on this at all, as photography is something which I have very limited experience in, however I do know that I dig the shot a lot, that it's certainly something that I looked at for more than just a glancing few seconds.

Interesting photo. It's really a great scene. The one issue I have is conflict of subject. The sharpness of the statue first brings my eye to it but the strong nature of the two in front brings my eye back. It ends up being a battle between the two. First to the statue and back to the ladies. I think the ladies should hold center stage on this one.

Now, is this a DOF issue with the softness in the foreground or a motion issue (maybe combination of both)?

What I do love about shots like this is that we've all experienced something like this scene. You can almost here the conversation going on. It has nothing to do with the art, it's either about going to get something to eat, hit a bathroom, whatever.

This has all the earmarks of old school street shooting. Feet cut off (almost a must in the old days (lol), crooked lines in the BG, etc. But, what was so powerful back then was the decisive moment. The very instance that the story was told. HCB, Frank, Winogrand... they just captured the moment. While sometimes the images weren't as technically perfect as we've all wrongly come to expect in this day and age, they captured that moment.

I think you captured it well but do wish the roles were reversed as apposed to sharp and soft subject.

Awsome shot, the elderly are awsome but why mix englisch und Deutch in the name? Not meaning to be a bear but wouldn't it be aproapriate to rename it "Die neue Wache heute"?

as sad as it is might be, this overly popular road (unter den linden) is actually really not a bad place for street photography in berlin...
nice black and white tones.

Great shot , I wish that you did cut their feet off though and some sharpness would add a lot , but you captured a special moment , which I guess we all wondering what was this about .

Epic? How so? XD They look like they're gonna go beat someone up and steal their lunch money.

Nice composition on this one. The contrast is nice as well, brings out the people and monument in the image. I like seeing you work more with photography.

I believe that I should elaborate a bit on my comment... I am not saying that blur or out of focus is a no-no but instead should be used with great caution and expertise as well as a lot of consideration (take a look for example this deviation - [link] very nicely executed and I can tell why the blur is there).

I too, have a lot of shots where focus is off or the subjects are blurry due to my slow lens or film.
I definitely will not post those pictures, even if they have all the elements of a "good" photograph.
Why? I was taught (and I firmly believe) that in normal photographs or snapshots from the street, sharpness is one of the key elements.

Can you tell me, have you ever seen a blurry picture from R. Avedon or A. Adams?

I actually like the fact that the monument is in focus and the 2 women are blurred .. To me, this shot could be interpreted in many ways .. and once again, you captured at the right moment

"Yeah we've seen it, let's get a coffee already!"

I like the honesty you are capturing on people's faces. Don't worry about the technical fanatics. Go with your heart before the moment's over. If you took the time to get all the technical stuff right, those women would be long gone. Is great art about technicalities anyway? Or is it simply about what you convey?

Well done Angelo! I can't wait to see more!

If the monument was not the focal point, why the focus over there? Picture has a nice feel to it, nice lines, tonality is good, but this focus actually ruined the shot for me.
+ I do not think you should ask for advanced critique on works that you find "I'm not sure what the meaning of this all is. I mean the photo..."
