Ah. Well it's been out for a while, a lot of people like to hate on it because idk, magical talking ponies, but I think it's a cute show. I won't deny that it can be hard to get into at first but once you get past how cheesy it is it's pretty good. I recommend it.

I looked it up, and it does not seem like the kind of show I would watch. But I believe in keeping an open mind about things. So perhaps you can tell me which episode (or episodes) I should watch?

idk, I just kinda watched the entire series and I like all the episodes. You should definitely watch the series premiere episodes, Friendship is Magic. There's two parts to that. Then after that you can skip through the first season as you like. It's hard for me to choose which ones aren't necessary to watch simply because they're all good at telling you what each of the main characters are like. But if you want the ones that really define their personalities, then Applebuck Season, Dragonshy, Swarm of the Century, Suited for Success, Feeling Pinkie Keen, and Sonic Boom are all really good. And then of course the season one finale, The Best Night Ever. That's just season 1, if you like enough of that, then I could suggest episodes from season 2. It's currently on season 6 right now so there's a lot to watch, lol

I watched the episodes you mentioned, and some others to be honest. The show did manage to get a few laughs out of me (Something most shows are incapable of), the character "Discord" in particular. "Applejack" is by far my favourite character due to her honesty and simplicity (two traits I rarely see in any human being), and I absolutely positively despise "Rarity".
However, all in all, it just isn't the show for me. It doesn't go with my uptight personality.

Yeah it's not for everyone. Discord is easily one of my favorite characters. I tend to like chaotic neutrals like him. Probably why I also took to Bill Cipher so quickly. In the words of Discord himself, "Chaos is a wonderful, wonderful thing."
I like Rarity, she just takes some time to get used to. She means well and her generosity is inspiring, she's just rather stingy. But when it comes to the people she loves, she'll do things she's not fond of just to make them happy. She's done it multiple times and even got herself absolutely filthy while participating in a race with her little sister, just to make sure she had a good time. But I can see where some people wouldn't like Rarity.
I don't think there's anyone in the show I can say I don't like, just because the character development they all get is pretty thorough. I even feel sympathy for most of the villains at some point.
..well except Tirek. that guy's just a dick

I despise Rarity, mainly because she reminds me too much of my own sister, with whom I have unilaterally hostile relations.
I agree, It's obvious that a lot of work went into character development of the show. I've only seen a few episodes, and the characters are already getting to me.

i just like villains who do bad things because they just don't give a fuck, rather than because of a "tragic backstory" or whatever. It's refreshing.
Ah, I get ya. Still, Rarity has definitely grown on me. And her dresses are always so pretty, I wish I could design like that. :'D

I agree. It's much more logical and realistic to have such characters. "Villain with a Tragic past" has become so much of a cliche in my view.
She does have her charms, I admit. And yes, as far as pony fashion goes, She does design beautifully!

Villains with tragic pasts still get my sympathy sometimes but it is pretty overdone. Meanwhile you have a character like Bill, who's whole chance at a 'tragic backstory' was pretty much ruined by him killing his entire dimension just because he thought they needed to be "liberated". though if my theory about him being from a place like Flatland is correct I don't blame him, but still.
I just want to be able to design good outfits for characters because otherwise I just stick them in a short and jeans or shorts, which gets pretty repetitive. Oh well, I'll just keep practicing.
