Playing with chalks, again. I´m pretty happy how the fur turned out, though the mane looks a bit fake.
I wanted to try drawing a bit different unicorn than those usual, white horned horses. Done with pastels and charcoal on pastel paper. Annoying how badly the photo of the drawing turned out, its all fuzzy.

I like this different concept of an unicorn and how it kind of resembles a deer. Looks great.
Could be that the legends started like that. It's after all easier to imagine a stag with one horn then a horse.

Actually, the legend STARTED something like this, unicorns turned into sparkly pink ponies who prance upon rainbows because of 80´s when everything bright and sparkly was "in" or into a plain horses with horns. Modern unicorns might be kiddy and cute, but we have to remember that it WAS thought as a real animal in the past. If I remember right, the legend was born because of a misundrestood description of a white rhino, and the "animal" turned out to be a deer/goatlike animal with one horn that was elusive and shy but wild.
Oops, sorry about the lecture, I´m just quite fond of those old-school-unicorns. Kind of dislike a bit the new-kind ones.

If it was white, it would look similar to the Unicorn Aranna, a newish char of mine ^^
She is slummer, slightly more horselike, and one long horn that doesn\'t\' split off and pure white whit soft blue eyes.
