His name comes from Wisp, or Fatuous Fire, creatures from Gaelic and Slavic folklore, and the abbreviation "mon" for monster, so he may be "monster fatuous fire. While his appearance is inspired by Bakemon, a ghost digimon, a middle age hooded and Ghostmon being part of his evolutionary line,

"Reference Boock": He is a small ghost digimon coming from the mythical Witchelny with blue fire powers. He wears a small hood that helps him become invicible, it is said that his mischievous nature makes him impersonate small guiding lights that make travelers lose their destination, believing they have arrived at some kind of village at night.
