Frozen Heart…

The moment she walked through the portal she knew she would never look back. Being exiled was a disgrace, a punishment, for daring to love above her station.

She had no regrets but one…

Her lover was not as strong in their love as she was.

So standing in her frozen exile, she could feel her life slowly leaving her body, the one tear she dared to shed, frozen like a curse on her pale cheek…

Her heart would break if it wasn’t already encased in ice, too cold and frozen that not even a crack would dare make its mark.

The unfortunate butterfly that foolishly followed her into this cold world was facing the same punishment as her…

But she could not save it…

It was far too late…

Authors Comment:

What I was trying to convey with this piece, was when she stepped through the colourful portal, she left behind all the richness of colour and her life. Then her clothes became a dull grey that even the design at the bottom of her robe, that once were golden and red became grey.

She felt dull and lifeless so she actually became dull and lifeless and wished to no longer live. Well that was what I was trying to get across…as for the butterfly, it unfortunately shared her fate!

I was going to enter this into a competition then I saw the other contestant’s entries and decided against it. My work is not really good enough to enter so I will just post it as is!

Okay, okay, I was too chicken to enter it!
